Lincy Jacob is an attorney in Albany, New York. As a professional who is passionate about helping the public, she has taken a keen interest in the healthcare industry and medicinal developments. Whether it be an illness that humanity has been fighting for years or a global pandemic, Lincy keeps up-to-date on healthcare developments both domestically and internationally.
Though not a healthcare professional herself, Lincy Jacob shows her compassion to the public through her work as an attorney. In 2004, she attended the University at Albany. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice upon graduation with a Concentration in Law and a minor in English. She then attended Albany Law School, where she graduated in 2007 with her Juris Doctor.
With her education complete, Lincy Jacob began working up the latter in her professional career. Soon after getting her Juris Doctor, Lincy began working at the Capital District Center for Independence, Inc., as a Client Assistance Program Coordinator. One year later, she was promoted to Director of Advocacy, allowing her to represent clients who were denied Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income Benefits.
Following her tenure there, Lincy Jacob moved on to work at several District Attorney offices as an Assistant District Attorney. From 2009 to 2013, she worked on misdemeanor cases, conducted preliminary hearings and bench trials, supervised interns as they researched and prepared responses to Omnibus Motions, conducted pleas bargains and hearings, and more.
In 2013, she became an Associate Attorney for Tully Rinckey. Lincy Jacob represented clients on a variety of crimes, ranging from violations to felonies, conducted hearings and trials, and filed appeals for denial of parole and vacating sentences. Lincy supervised associate attorneys as needed regarding criminal cases and represented clients who were denied Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income benefits—a skill she had previous experience doing at her first job.
At Ackerman, Wachs, & deArmas, Lincy Jacob represented clients in several areas of law such as criminal law, matrimonial law, family law, personal injury law, labor and employment law, and general litigation.
Presently, Lincy Jacob is a Senior Attorney for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. She represents the department at administrative hearings against those regulated by the department: car dealerships, repair shops, driving schools, and motor carriers. Her skills allow her to defend the department’s position in cases where a suspended license was caused due to loss of consciousness and lets her represent the department in personnel matters before hearing officers and the New York State Division of Human Resources.
Outside of her career, Lincy Jacob is an extremely active individual. As an avid runner, she has completed many half-marathons and a full marathon in her free time. When not active, she indulges in watching her favorite TV shows and movies to relax. Lincy also leads her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. The troop consists of seventeen members and started just before the pandemic, but she helped the group persevere throughout it while building the girls’ character, courage, and confidence. Through her leadership, Lincy Jacob hopes to help the girls make the world a better place.
